The most well-liked merit-based scholarships honor academic excellence or excellent test scores and are given out by either private groups or the student’s desired college.

The majority of these merit-based awards are paid by the institution the student attends rather than being given to them personally.

Need-Based:

Some privately funded need-based awards—confusingly referred to as scholarships—require the FAFSA results (the family’s EFC). Grants, on the other hand, are frequently need-based whereas scholarships are frequently merit-based.

ALSO APPLY:  Study In Canada: Scholarships, Financial Aid, Visa, Admissions

Student-Based:

These are awards for which candidates must first be eligible based on criteria specific to students, such as gender, race, religion, family background, and medical history. The majority of rewards in this category are scholarships for minorities.

Scholarships for a Career:

These are financial aid packages given by colleges or universities to students who want to follow a particular area of study. Students who seek occupations in fields with great demand, like education or nursing, frequently receive the most lucrative rewards.

College-Certain:

To highly qualified candidates, specific colleges and universities may give scholarships. On the basis of academic and personal achievement, they award these scholarships. A “bond” criterion applies to several scholarships.

In order to avoid having to pay back the amount of support they received from the scholarship, they may force beneficiaries to work in rural or remote locations for a predetermined amount of time or for a specific firm.

Athletic

given to children who have a special talent in a sport. Although in certain countries there are government-funded sport scholarships available, allowing scholarship holders to train for international representation, this is frequently done so that the student will be available to attend the school or college and play the sport on their team.

Authentic Scholarship

These scholarships are funded by a business that wants to promote its brand or a charitable cause. These awards are sometimes referred to as branded scholarships. One well-known instance of a brand scholarship is the Miss America contest.

Scholarship Contest for Creativity
Students that submit creative work are eligible for these scholarships.

Scholarships for contests, sometimes known as mini projects, allow students to submit submissions based on original and creative concepts.
